The three administrators of the West-Central Cameroon Union Mission, accompanied by the Director of Communication, Public Affairs and Religious Liberty, were granted an audience on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Ministry of Territorial Administration, the government body responsible for religious affairs.
During the meeting, the Director of Political Affairs, assisted by the Deputy Director of Public Liberties and a senior official, represented Minister Paul Atanga Nji, who was unable to attend. On behalf of the Minister, he commended the Church’s social contributions and encouraged the Union’s leaders to collaborate with the Government in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, thereby helping Cameroon exit the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. Alain Salomon ISSANDA ISSANDA expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship that exists between the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Cameroonian authorities.
For his part, the President of the West-Central Cameroon Union Mission, Pastor Omer Aristide NKONDA, praised the Government’s policy of safeguarding religious freedom. He also presented the restructuring of the Cameroon Union Mission into two territories: the West-Central Cameroon Union Mission and the North-East Cameroon Union Mission.
As 2026 marks the centennial (100 years) of the arrival of Adventism in Cameroon, the representative of the Minister of Territorial Administration was briefed on the planned celebrations commemorating one hundred years of Adventist evangelism in the country.
