PRINCE EMMANUEL ADVENTIST CHURCH, GHANA – More than 210 church leaders, including 90 in-person attendees and over 120 virtual participants, gathered on May 7, 2026, for a joint leadership seminar organized by the South West Ghana Union Conference (SWGUC) and the South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM). The event, held at the Prince Emmanuel SDA Church, aimed to equip church officers, field and conference pastors, and departmental directors for the mission ahead.
The main facilitator was Pastor Professor Robert Osei-Bonsu, Vice President of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The day’s schedule began with a devotion titled “Called to be Light: Living the Messiah’s Vision” (Luke 3:21,22) from 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by opening formalities and introductions of SEGUM and SWGUC officers.
Presentation 1, “One Voice, One Mission: Ghana’s Role in the 2027 Harvest,” set the stage for the day’s strategic focus. Presentation 2, “One Mission, One Million: Mobilizing Ghana for the 2030 Harvest,” challenged leaders to envision reaching one million members in Ghana by the end of 2030. After a midday break, attendees engaged with “Ghana Territorial Mapping” and a session on “Disciple-Making and Preserving Members in the Adventist Church in Ghana.” The seminar closed with final thoughts under the theme “One Purpose, One Spirit, One Mission.”
In post-event interviews, union presidents shared their expectations and strategic directions.
Pastor Kwaakye Adeefe, President of the South West Ghana Union Conference, emphasized actionable outcomes. “The leadership workshop was fascinating, facilitated by Pastor Prof. Robert. We brought together all presidents, secretaries, treasurers, and administrators across the South Ghana Union Conference,” he said. “My expectation after this leadership seminar is that the conferences will come together and have a special ‘OneVoice’ commitment, liaising with a union ‘OneVoice’ committee to facilitate, promote, and prepare for the ‘OneVoice’ project 2027. From today, I expect all of you to come together and hit the ground running, preparing training materials and all equipment for ‘OneVoice.’ I charge each one of you: let us go all out, leading the charge as conference officers, lifting the banner high, and bringing everybody on board as we work together to make sure this project succeeds. ‘OneVoice’—mission for all.”
Chaplain Colonel Peter Nyarko Duodu (RTD), President of the South East Ghana Union Mission, shared a deeply spiritual vision for the initiative. “‘OneVoice 27’ is a call to united prayer, a call to united evangelism, and a call to a united family,” he explained. “For me on a personal level, ‘OneVoice’ is a code to impregnate this world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a quota for this world to conceive the gospel of Jesus Christ, a quota for the world to give birth to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and a call for the world to live according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. If the whole Adventist world will speak with one voice and with one message, God will bless you.” He challenged pastors to think innovatively: “We have been exposed to so many things—not the normal one. It goes beyond. We should come with new innovations for evangelism, become intentional about members who are leaving the church, and be very intentional about how we do church. With these ideas, by the grace of God, the mission will be accomplished.”
The senior pastor of Prince Emmanuel SDA Church expressed profound gratitude for the seminar. “On behalf of all the pastors within the South West Ghana Union Conference and the South East Ghana Union Mission, we are very privileged to have Pastor Prof. Osei-Bonsu come and give us that lecture on ‘OneVoice 27.’ The importance of that lecture and its impact on our ministry cannot be overstated,” he said. “We have seen the need to reorganize ourselves, re-strategize, and refocus on the mandate that Christ left us in Matthew 28:18-20—the need to go out and make disciples. The emphasis of today’s seminar was on the need for discipling and retaining members, and to be able to collectively reach the goal set for us: that Ghana will achieve one million membership by the end of 2030. We have come to understand that it is not an impossibility. It is doable. It is achievable. All we need to do is reunite, focus, be determined, and re-strategize so we can go out there and lift the banner of praise to Jesus high.”
Speaking specifically about his local congregation’s strategy, he added, “When we look at small groups, integrating this message into small groups is essential. We know a revived small group is a revived church, and this can only be possible if we go back to the principles governing small groups—something that has been revealed by none other than God Himself. As for me, I need to go back to look at small group ministry in my Sabbath School mission study guide and see how we can integrate this lesson so the members can take the message to their homes, to their offices, to the community. That will be a plus for us.”
The leadership seminar concluded with a renewed sense of urgency and unity. The ‘OneVoice 2027’ initiative, tied to a global Adventist celebration, aims to mobilize Ghana’s Adventist membership for concentrated prayer, evangelism, and family strengthening. With territorial mapping and disciple-making as strategic pillars, union leaders affirmed that the goal of one million members by 2030 is within reach.
