North-East Cameroon Union Mission: Adventist Solidarity at the Bedside of Victims in Modoko and Ouzal

The once calm and peaceful nights are now a distant memory for the people of Modoko and Ouzal, located in the districts of Koza and Mokota. Since the recent incursions by the Boko Haram insurgents, fear has become a constant companion in their daily lives. During the group’s latest attack, two lives were lost, forcing residents to flee from their homes in search of safety—either sleeping out in the open or hiding in mountain caves, constantly at risk of losing their lives. Moved by the plight of these affected families, members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church from the Mayo-Tsanaga Central District (Koza) took a compassionate step. During a ceremony held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Modoko Massif, they distributed materials (mats, soap, detergents) and food supplies to 34 affected families. The initiative was led by Pastor Yougouda Tike, accompanied by several church elders.
Though modest, this act of solidarity reflects the humanitarian commitment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, working hand in hand with the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA).

ADRA Cameroon: Sustained Humanitarian Action in the Northern Regions
In 2025, ADRA Cameroon continued its humanitarian mission with determination in the North and Adamawa regions. In addition to rehabilitating several water points—which brought smiles back to many communities—other major projects are underway. Among them, a child malnutrition response program has referred 428 severely malnourished children to hospitals. At the same time, 9,987 children — including 3,929 refugee children — received super cereals to improve their nutritional status.

In the field of agro-pastoral development, 278 cooperatives benefited from training in the processing of dairy and agricultural products, thereby strengthening local capacities and boosting the economic resilience of communities.
Through these actions, ADRA continues to play a key role in integrated community development, particularly in the northern regions of Cameroon.
