Across the world, August 23, 2025 was designated as EnditNow Emphasis Day with focus on Abuse of the Elderly.
The annual program, initiated by the Women’s Ministries Department of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, seeks to raise awareness and take a stand against all forms of abuse and violence, affirming the dignity of every human life.
In Abuja West Nigeria Mission, under the Northern Nigeria Union Conference, the event was marked with a heartfelt call to honor and show love to the elderly, culminating in a joyous celebration as seven individuals surrendered their lives to Christ through baptism.
The Women’s Ministries Director of Abuja West Nigeria Mission, Mrs. Chibuenyim Munachim, who led the congregation in reaffirming the church's commitment to nurturing compassion and safeguarding the vulnerable, highlighted the importance of respect, care, and appreciation for the elderly, who are often neglected in modern society.
“We have neglected them for too long and God is calling us today, at this time, to honour our parents and respect the elderly”, Mrs. Munachim said.
The event featured special talks, prayers, and outreach activities that underscored the need to challenge societal norms that perpetuate neglect and abuse, replacing them with intentional acts of kindness and service.

Messages of hope and empathy resonated deeply as worshippers were urged to embrace a culture of love and protection within their homes and communities.
It also followed with a commitment of action by the church to continue advocating for dignity, care, and compassion not just for the elderly but for all humanity until every form of abuse is brought to an end.
A spiritual high point of the EnditNow Emphasis Day celebration came with the baptism of seven precious souls, a testimony to the transformative impact of the church’s message of salvation and new beginnings.
The baptism was conducted by Pastor Gideon Mordecai, Evangelism Director, Abuja West Nigeria Mission.
