Adventist Men Gather for Inspiring Convention at Babcock University

Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State – August 10, 2025
The Western Nigeria Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists hosted more than 1,550 delegates for the fifth edition of the Adventist Men’s Organization (AMO) Convention, held at Babcock University from August 6–10, 2025. Themed “Mission to Neighbours: I Will Go,” the gathering was marked by moments of spiritual renewal, fellowship, and practical empowerment.

The convention opened with warm words of welcome from Elder Sola Olayinka, AMO leader for the Union. He recongnized that “the program is a pure manifestation of God’s grace and leading”. He also works with a team Distinguished guests delivered goodwill messages, including Pastor Ogunseitan Samuel, President of the Ogun Conference; Professor Ademola S. Tayo, Vice Chancellor of Babcock University; Pastor Dr. Ezekiel Adeleye, President of the Western Nigeria Union Conference; Pastor Dr. Robert Osei-Bonsu, Vice President of the General Conference; and Evangelist Onifade, representing the Governor of Ogun State, who formally declared the event open.
Over the course of four days, participants engaged in a wide range of seminars and workshops addressing health, family life, stewardship, entrepreneurship, and spiritual growth. Highlights included:

  • Common Old Age-Related Ailments: Causes and Remedies – Dr. Obe
  • Prostate Cancer Awareness – Dr. John Sotunsa and Elder J. Davis. The presentation was followed by free medical screenings;
  • Potentials in Agribusiness – Mr. Oscar Ayeleso and Mrs. Williams Dawodu
  • Multiple Streams of Income – Mr. Sulaiman Adedokun
  • Complementary, Not Identical: The Beauty of Needs in Marriage – Pastor and Dr. (Mrs.) Okonkwo
  • Integrity Still Pays in the Marketplace – Mr. Wole Oyedeji
  • Sessions on daily prayer devotion and spiritual growth

The celebration on August 9 drew more than 2,000 men in worship experience. The day concluded with Holy Communion service led by Pastor Dr. Adeleye, where men demonstrated humility through the ordinance of foot washing. The session also included the presentation of meritorious awards to past AMO leaders for their dedicated service.

The convention closed on Sunday, August 10, with participants renewed in their commitment to mission, family, and spiritual growth. Delegates left with a strong resolve to live out the call of the theme, carrying the light of Christ to their neighbours and communities.
