Message of Comfort and Hope
Message of Comfort and Hope
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Cabo Verde,
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
It is with profound sorrow that we have received the news of the devastating floods that have swept across São Vicente and Santo Antão islands. The images of destruction, the reports of lives lost, and the testimonies of families left without shelter or the basic necessities of life weigh heavily on our hearts. In such moments, words may appear fragile, but love compels us to speak: you are not alone.
As members of one body in Christ, your pain is our pain, your tears are our tears. The entire family of the Seventh-day Adventist Church within the West-Central Africa Division stands beside you in prayerful solidarity. Each day, fervent petitions are rising before the throne of grace, asking the God of all comfort to enfold you with His peace, to strengthen weary hearts, and to supply every need.
Even in this tragedy, we see signs of God’s love shining through His people. Churches have opened their doors to welcome those who have lost everything. Faithful members are preparing meals with willing hands. Our youth and ADRA teams are mobilizing to help rebuild roads, restore homes, and bring hope to communities in despair. These acts of compassion remind us that Christ’s light shines brightest in the darkest nights.
We want to affirm our love for you and our commitment to walk with you in this painful season. We are lifting you in prayer daily, asking the Lord to grant strength, protection, and speedy recovery to your communities. We also call on all members of WAD to remember Cabo Verde in their prayers and to support in any way possible. WAD has decided to support with a donation of 2 million Francs CFA.
Beloved in the Lord, we encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. The Apostle Paul reminds us: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation” (2 Corinthians 1:3–4). Take courage, for the One who calmed the storm is still with you today.
Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit may sustain you, that Christ may be your refuge, and that His grace may rebuild and restore your beloved and beautiful nation. May you be comforted by His presence and encouraged by the love of your global church family. May God bless you !
Pastor Bassey E. O. Udoh
President, West-Central Africa Division
