NIGERIA NATIONAL DEAF CONVENTION

NATIONAL DEAF CONVENTION - Preparation
Towards the maiden National Deaf Convention that was held at Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, two of the three Union Possibility Ministries Directors had a meeting with the Administration of the University on the 20th April 2024 to enlist their support for the Convention.
BU greatly supported the programme with free hostel accommodation, halls for daily activities and Advisories, and sponsored trips to Olumo Rock and Ogun Conference Headquarters in Abeokuta.
First National Adventist Deaf Convention in Nigeria Highlights
• The three Unions in Nigeria, namely:
• 1. Western Nigeria Union Conference,
• 2. Eastern Nigeria Union Conference, and
• 3. Northern Nigeria Union Conference
• Came together and organized a Convention for the Deaf in Nigeria which was attended by both deaf Adventists and non-Adventists from August 4-11, 2024 at the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
• A total of 45 Participants (which includes 6 Conference and 1 Union Directors) attended from WNUC.
• The theme was: I Will Go: From Glory to Glory
Opening Ceremony
• The Opening ceremony was held on 6th of August 2024, and all the APM directors were all in attendance when the Western Nigeria Union President, Pr. Dr. Ezekiel Atolagbe Adeleye declared the Convention opened.

Highlights continued:
• APM Director’s Advisories session were held during the program; ASS. General conference and Division APM Directors, Pastor Jallah Sahwo Karbah and Pastor Jeffrey Jordan respectively gave presentations on the importance of the ministry.

Highlights continued:
• Ass. GC APM Director’s presentation at the Ogun Conference Headquarters, Abeokuta, being the hosting Conference, while on a courtesy visit during the Convention on 7th August.

Highlights continued:
• Sharing of faith within Ilisan. On Friday 9th August, during the deaf convention, all the participants went out for sharing of faith from the hospital gate through the Ago-Ilara road and back to campus.

Highlights continued: Revival & Baptism
• On Friday evening, Pastor Jallah Karbah led out in a revival program and made an altar call to which five souls signified for baptism and were baptized the following day.

• On the Sabbath day, a Deaf Church was inaugurated in Babcock University.

• Symposium and closing ceremonies were held at Sabbath evening.
