Community/Health Outreach at Peki-Ghana Results in 18 baptisms
Story by Solace Asafo/Mordecai K. Mawutor

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, Peki District
of the Volta Ghana Mission is changing the face of its evangelistic activities in the community and it is yielding great results.
In March 2023, a health outreach which included health screening and registration of 249 community members unto the National Health Insurance scheme resulted in 13 baptisms and the reclamation of five members who had left the church.  The programme was under the theme: Remember the Man, the Cross and the Advent.

According to the District Pastor, Pastor Mordecai Kporku Mawutor, the Peki District of Seventh-day Adventists as part of its short to medium term goal of church’s growth plans to win 2% of the entire Peki population in the next five (5) years.
“The general objective is to Re-Vive (Revitalize dying church members), Re-Deem (Win Non-Adventists) and to Re-Claim (Re-win backslidden former church members).  To achieve that goal, the district embarked on a full-scale outreach mission from January 2024 with weekly house to house visitations and routine prayers with members of the community in Peki Dzake. This exercise was climaxed with health education/screening and a 7-day evangelistic campaign from 16th - 23rd March 2024 in Peki Dzake,” Pastor Mawutor said.
To sustain the gains made the Peki District engaged a Bible instructor, two (2) lay persons who are paid stipends to do regular visitation and bible studies in the community. Additionally, the District is renovating the old church building and has instituted a thrift and loan scheme to boost small-scale businesses owned by members.
“We have also bought some plastic chairs and evangelistic materials to help in our church growth efforts. We hope and pray that the Lord blesses us with more contemporary equipment and machines to further the course of the gospel in Peki and its environs,” Pastor Mawutor concluded.
The District is grateful to Madam Stella Drah, Associate Secretary of the West Central Africa Division, Elder Victor Amankwa, a members and Madam Mercy A. Kporku for sponsoring the health outreach and the campaign.
