Babcock Emerges Third Place at National Contest
Babcock University has emerged top three at the Nigerian Universities Computer Programming Contest (NUCPC) held in Kwali, Abuja the Federal Capital Territory. The annual competition organized by the National Mathematical Centre (NMC) Abuja for undergraduate Computer Science students in Nigeria, had Fadolapo Oluwapelumi, Oladosu Abdullahi and Tayo Jeremiah representing Babcock with Dr. Seun Ebiesuwa as coach.
Besides Babcock, Bowen and the Federal Universty of Technology, FUTA which emerged first and second place respectively, were also at the awards presentation ceremony graced by dignitaries including the Director, National Mathematical Centre, Prof. Stephen Onah, Dean of the School of Computing & Mathematics, Prof. Oludele Awodele and Prof. Sahalu Junaidu of Ahmadu Bello University among others.
Prof. Bamidele Oluwade of the University of Ibadan and officials of the Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC) and Representatives of Microsoft Corporation were also present.
The top four teams have been selected to represent Nigeria at the 2019 Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship scheduled to hold in Egypt in November. The top twelve teams at the Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship will represent Africa and the Arab world at the 2019 International Collegiate Programming Contest holding in Moscow, Russia June 2020.
