A tragic fire accident that has shaken the Adventist family in Ghana has killed a Pastor’s wife, their two children, and two others on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Dansoman in Accra.

Pastor Ebenezer Ato Kessie was away at a camp meeting when fire engulfed his house and killed his wife, two sons, the mother-in-law, and a niece of the wife in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased are Madam Grace Ampah, 65, Mrs Linda Kessie, 30, Precious Pokua, 9, and the 4 year and 3 weeks old children of the couple.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Police are investigating.

The Pastor’s wife had recently given birth to their second child and her mother had come visiting to help take care of the baby.

The Pastor had been away at a camp meeting on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, and came home to the tragic news. Church leaders rushed to the house to console him and the extended family.

The charred remains have since been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

“This is a most tragic incident, and we can only pray that God will be their source of comfort,” said a shaken President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference, Pastor Thomas Techie Ocran.

The bereaved Pastor is also the assistant communication director of the Accra City Conference and son of Pastor Anthony Kessie, a former President of the then South Ghana Conference.

The late Pastor’s wife was a teacher at the Valley View University Basic School in Accra.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Keep them in your prayers.
